Hidden From Google – listing all the censored ‘people’ results on search engines

The recent ‘right to be forgotten‘ ruling from the EU has definitely allowed some very…um… interesting people to avoid public attention in Europe, and even more so now that Bing has just joined the party. The result has been as expected, various people removing their search engine listing for things like court cases and adverse newspaper reports, which means of course they can then move on and either reform, or do their stuff again to other unsuspecting victims.

Fetch – grab and share just the text from any website or article in an instant via email

If you’re like me, you’re always finding cool stuff online which you want to send to friends and family. We use a neat Firefox addon to send web links instantly via Gmail but the problem is it just sends the link, so the recipient has to click through to view the content. Which is fine if they have an internet connection at the time, but not so good if they are out and about and don’t have access for whatever…

Forget.me – new service offers to remove you from Google search results

A new service has launched which aims to make it much easier for people living in the EU to make a request to Google to remove their information from the search results. This ‘right to be forgotten’, as it’s called, comes after a ruling by the European court which explicitly gave people this power over the information kept about them online.

Bloom & Wild – super fresh flat-pack flowers impossibly delivered through your letterbox

Sometimes it’s easy to see where technology has really made a difference to our lives, as with massive medical advances, but in other cases it’s harder to tell. But one thing we do know, this new flower delivery service manages to do something we thought was impossible, and yet it works, thanks to some clever bio tech.

Laundry Instructions: The App that Saves a Phone Call to Mom

Laundry is a high stakes game. One red sock in the wrong load will have you saying “pink is the new white” in no time. Sure, the instructions are on the tags but they’re not always in English. Sometimes they’re in that strange hieroglyphic language that only your mother understands. Laundry Instructions is the Android app that takes the mystery out of the wash.

Stereopublic: The App that Helps You Unplug and Chill Out

The world is a bright and noisy place. Especially if you live in an urban environment. Sure it makes ‘borrowing’ Wi-Fi super convenient, but it also makes it hard to sleep when your neighbors want to clean at 3 AM. But what if you knew where there were some peaceful places you could go in your city to chill out and recover?

GoEuro – the most complete travel search engine for Europe you’ll find

There are a lot of travel search engines around, most of which feature some mix of flights, hotels and car hire. And some of them are excellent like Hipmunk.com and Skypicker.com. But they do have limitations, and the biggest is usually the fact that they don’t offer alternative transport modes such as train, car or bus travel.

You’re Getting Old – cool online app lets you find out what’s been going on during your lifetime so far

They say that time flies, and boy does it. Especially as you get older, when days merge into weeks into months. It’s hard to keep track of what’s been happening in the world, when all you can remember is buying cheese last week. Or was it milk?

Experiment – help fund the next wave of scientific research

We can all agree that science has given us some truly awesome inventions in the past few centuries. We’re not going to list them here – but the words penicillin and magnetic putty spring to mind – but to say that we have a lot to thank the lab folk for. But the problem is it’s getting more difficult to do standard research nowadays, and by standard we mean research which may not have a huge financial return at the…
