Disturbances In the Forest – catastrophic events release carbon

A lot of carbon is stored in our forests. Trees are great at cleaning carbon out of the air and holding on to it. This would be fine but trees and forests are living things and they do, from time to time, die. Sometimes much faster, and more abruptly, than we would like. And when that happens, that carbon gets put right back into the air.

Green Energy is Growing in Australia – but will it continue?

Green energy is doing VERY well in Australia! The country added 3.5 gigawatts of clean energy projects in 2018 and the output is expected to increase 36% this year alone. They’re well on their way to making their 2020 clean energy goals which is amazing! Hopefully this trend will continue once the incentives have dropped off.

Coral Reefs Bounce Back – given some time to heal, some reefs are showing new signs of life

Coral reefs are important habitats for sea life not to mention living creatures all of their own. Trawling really did a number on many reefs that was so terrible it was expected that those reefs would never recover. But good news! After some time protected from humanity, they’re appear to be bouncing back.
